I have worked in Psychiatric rehabilitation, drug and alcohol treatment services, acute adolescent psychiatric inpatient settings and with children and young people in the care system.
I work integratively which means I draw from a range of therapeutic models to create a care plan that best fits the needs of the people I work with. This includes therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Whilst I ensure that my interventions are evidence based and grounded in theoretical knowledge I firmly believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in fostering change. I do not believe that one approach will be right for everyone and will work with you to make sure that the treatment you receive is the best fit for you.
My approach is direct but warm and humorous and my focus is always on empowerment and encouraging self-compassion.
