Description
Dr Rebecca Wilson is a Chartered and Clinical Psychologist providing psychological therapy to adults and older people as a highly specialist NHS practitioner in the South West of England. Rebecca also offers family work as a qualified systemic practitioner having trained in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy to intermediate level. Highly specialist neuropsychological rehabilitation for individuals and their families with a diagnosis of cognitive impairment is also available.
Rebecca is committed to offering client centred clinical interventions for a range of complex emotional and mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, OCD, bereavement and trauma. Paramount to her work is the development of a collaborative relationship in which a shared understanding of an individual or family’s difficulties and treatment goals is ascertained in order to deliver appropriate evidence based interventions.
In addition to her clinical work Rebecca teaches on the Exeter Clinical Psychology Doctorate and has experience of providing supervision, consultation and training to clinical psychologists and other health professionals.
Rebecca's qualifications include a first class BSc (Hons) degree in human psychology (Aston University, 2003) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Plymouth University, 2008). She is a member of the Health Professions Council and Full Member of the British Psychological Society.
A collaborative approach is at the heart of Rebecca's clinical practice in order to enable transparent, client centred working in which both client and therapist agree and work towards specific goals with a shared understanding of the current difficulty.
As a clinical psychologist she is able to draw on a range of therapeutic models according to client suitability and evidence based practices. Approaches include cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), systemic therapy, attachment work, narrative approaches and highly specialist neuropsychological rehabilitation.
